Universitas Jember International Cultural Camp (UJICC)

University of Jember is one of the biggest universities in Indonesia with approximately 35 thousand students studying in 110 study program in 15 Faculties. The university vision is to become an excellent university in advanced sciences, technology and the arts which is based on the development of environment, business, and industrial agriculture. As a part of global community and in line with university’s internationalization program, University of Jember also sets its objectives on introducing local products, agricultural industry, and culture to the world through our annual program. This program offers different theme every year according to the uniqueness at present year.

UJICC 2015 with the theme of Immersing in the Diversity of Local Traditions, was attended by 8 students originally from Germany (3 students), Malaysia (2 students), Thailand (1 student), and Philippines (2 students). UJICC has been held for 13 days with several courses such as learning Bahasa Indonesia, Gamelan, Indonesian Traditional Dances, Folk songs, Pencak Silat, Industrial visit (Coffee, Cocoa, Tobacco plantations), and Tourism (Papuma, Ijen Crater, Jember Fashion Carnival), Campus Tour, etc.

UJICC 2016 was held on July 31 until August 11, 2016 and was attedend by 9 participants originaly from 5 countries (Germany, UK, Malaysia, Philippines, and Myanmar). This event offered several agendas such as learning Bahasa Indonesia, Gamelan, Tradisional dances, Folks songs, Pencak Silat, including Industrial and tourism visit besides Campus Tour.

UJICC 2017 was held for about 15 days started from July 20 to August 2, 2017 and was attended by 16 foreign students from Philippines (4 students), Vietnam (1 student), Thailand (3 students), Bhutan (1 student), Glasglow , UK (2 students), Germany (2 students), Myanmar (2 students), and Japan (1 student). This event had several agendas such as visiting several places or industrial and plantation spots around the Regency of Jember. Papuma beach, Indonesian Coffee and Cocoa Research Institute (ICCRI), Cigarette and Tobacco factory (BIN CIGAR), Edamame Soybean plantation or company of PT. Mitratani Duatujuh, Tea Plantation in Sukowono district, Sugarcane factory of Jatiroto in the Regency of Lumajang, and Osing (local ethnic) Tourism village an Kemiren in the Regency of Banyuwangi

UJICC 2018 was attended by 19 students from Malaysia, Brunei, Buthan, Philippines, Thailand, Laos, UK, Italy, Japan, and South Korea for 6 days. This event realized the themes of “Immersing in the Diversity of Local Tradition”. Participants was also joined  the 1st International Workshop on News Production and did the presentation from Participants about Culture from Their Country (culture exposing).

The 5th University of Jember International Cultural Camp (UJICC) 2019 was held on July 16, 2018 – August 31, 2019 with the Theme of Embracing The Grace of Indonesia Heritage. This event was attended by 19 participants from the  University of Mandalay, Myanmar, Prefectural University of Hiroshima, Japan, Royal University of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Malaysia, Royal Thimphu College, Bhutan, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Brunei Darussalam, University of Novi Sad, Serbia, National University of Laos, Laos, Wroclaw University of Technology, Poland, Maldives National University, Maldives, University of San Carlos, The Philippine, and Kyungpook National University, South Korea.

Due to the Global Pandemic situation of Corona virus disease (COVID 19), the UJICC 2020-2022  has been cancelled.
